Hump-Day Hype: The Week of Gratitude

I’m going to take a leaf out of my friend Suzy’s book (Read her amazing #findingthegood series HERE) and look at the things I have to be grateful for this week, seeing as there was a lot NOT to be grateful for. My friend shared a great quote about gratitude with me this week, “Gratitude turns what we have into enough”. No matter what we are facing this week, we have so much to be grateful for.

1. I’m grateful for health and medication.

Over the weekend, both my boys (the little one and the big one) were sick. While my son was still as happy as a button throughout, my husband was feeling miserable which unfortunately wasted most of weekend. However, I was fortunate enough not to get sick, and I’m also grateful that we live in a country where we can readily get medication to help us feel better.

2. I’m grateful for my gorgeous little bundle of joy.

I seriously didn’t think I could love a little person this much, but I am so thankful to have him in my life. He makes me smile each day with his big grin and budding personality, and I love how curious he is about the world around him. Despite being sick, we had a great time on the weekend soaking up the sun and I could watch his beautiful little mind ticking over as he watched and giggled at the world around him.

3. I’m grateful that I am balanced.

Since going on the Balanced Babes Retreat (AH-MAZING!), I’ve been trying to balance my life more so I’m less stressed and more content. I’ve been taking on some great advice to focus on achieving one (big) thing a day, so that once I’ve ticked that off I know I’ve completed my one task for the day (also motivating me to do some smaller tasks since I feel so accomplished). It has helped me to take a lot of pressure off myself and to enjoy more time with Starfish again.

4. I’m grateful that hard-work pays off.

This week I’ve been very thankful that I’ve started getting some paid work through my blogging – it has become my next ‘dream’ that I could make some money while at home with my son, doing something I love, so that I can spend more time with him. I’ve had several opportunities come up that have led to paid work and I’m very grateful for that (plus it helps me feel validated that my work is resonating with and helping others, which is my ultimate aim!).

5. I’m grateful for family and friends.

While I may not see them as often as I’d like, I know my friends and family are always there for us when we need them and I’m really grateful for that. I enjoy the random text messages or Facebook messages from them; I love random cafe catch-ups when time allows, and I love that they enjoy Starfish cuddles and me cuddles (not just one or the other). Thank you beautiful friends and family for always being there x

What are you grateful for this week?

Week #6’s Featured Post

My choice of Featured post for this week is Christina’s “The Ex-Factor“. What I enjoyed about Christina’s piece was her raw honesty about life as a divorcee, and how open she is about the struggles that come with that. I love Christina’s storytelling style, and I felt drawn to her story instantly. I think she’s an amazing mumma doing her best for her son, and that is so inspiring!

Thanks for sharing your story with us Christina! Feel free to use one of our “I’m Featured!” buttons above for your post if you’d like! Thanks also to everyone else for sharing great posts, it really helped us get over the hump of last week! Can’t wait to see what we have this week!

  1. This is absolutely true: “Gratitude turns what we have into enough”.” Today I am grateful that the cold weather is at least dry weather so my husband can get to work safely and I can shuttle my kids where they need to be! And I’m thankful my oldest will be FIVE tomorrow!

    • They are some wonderful things to be grateful! Happy birthday to your (not so!) little one tomorrow! I hope they have a great day!! x

  2. Great post! I’m thankful that the slew of sickness has passed here. Three kids sick at once was exhausting. And I think thankfulness/gratefulness helps to reset our perspective as well as help is to be joyful. 🙂

    • That’s always a great thing to be thankful for – I totally agree, husbands/partners really help out so much (especially on the weekends!)

    • Thanks Brittany 🙂 encouragement from friends is so important, I’m glad that it is helping you out!
