Hump-Day Hype! The week of productivity

Hump Day Hype Productivity

After the haziness and tiredness of last week, I feel like I’ve hit the complete opposite – I’ve had a week of productivity! Going to the doctors (see below) has been very helpful in figuring out what was going on and moving forward to get back to my (over) proactive self! Here’s what I’ve been able to do in this week of productivity:

1. Catch up on blog posts, reviews and guest posts

One of the things that really stressed me out last week was not getting my blog work done. I had reviews to write and photograph, guest blog posts to write and schedule, not to mention my own posts to write (which feels like a lifetime since THAT’s happened!), social media to schedule, and emails to respond to. The good thing about slowly being on the mend is that I’ve been able to catch up on all these things and slowly feel like I’m more organised, which reduces my stress!

2. Baking

Who knew, right? I’m not usually a cook or baker (although I would enjoy it more if I had the skill/talent for it), but I had a friend coming over semi-last minute, so I googled and found this eggless-cookie recipe (because we have no eggs) which I am calling “Crap I have a friend coming over” Last-Minute Cookies. It’ll be a thing, guys. I’ll even put the recipe up on the blog later in the week for you! But I had the ENERGY to bake some random cookies. How good is that?

3. Getting health checked

After being sick on and off for a while, I decided to bite the bullet and get myself checked out. Long story short, I am extremely iron deficient (amongst other things) which explains my tiredness! That plus sleepless nights from our darn baby monitor setting of false alarms meant I couldn’t be stuffed doing anything last week because I was exhausted all the time! So some decent sleep after hubby taking the monitor and taking iron supplements have made me ‘perk up’ and feel like I have some (not all) renewed energy!

4. Getting my ‘mum tribe’ on

I’ve been loving my renewed energy to get out and actually hang out with my mum friends and mother’s group. A nice picnic here, a coffee catch-up there (complete with eggless cookies!) – and I could actually ENJOY it without being exhausted or anxious about leaving the house with a screaming child. It is so nice for Starfish too, because he gets to enjoy playing with his new friends!

So these have been my most productive moments of the week – getting me over the hump to the weekend when I can relax and enjoy some quality family time. How have you been productive this week (or how are you getting over the ‘hump’)?

Week #1’s Featured Posts

Hump Day Hype Productivity 7

My choice of Featured post for our first week of ‘Hump-Day Hype!’ is “What my mother never told me” by SimplyBurch. I chose this piece because it has a clever combination of great humour and stark reality as the life of a mum is presented. I love that it is titled “what my mum never told me”, because it includes many of the day-to-day elements that are easily misrepresented by those wanting to convey what motherhood (or parenthood in general, for that matter) is actually like. It made me laugh and nod my head – “ah-ha, yep, so true!” – all at the same time. Great post SimplyBurch – feel free to use one of our “I’m Featured!” buttons above for your post! Thanks also to everyone else for sharing great posts, it really helped us get over the hump of last week! Can’t wait to see what we have this week!

  1. Glad to hear you’re on the mend. My blog work seems never ending. I have finally come up with topics and am filling out a content calendar but I seriously need to find some time to sit and write these posts out! 🙂

    • I’m totally the same! I had grand plans at the start of the year to do a content calendar but then everything happened all at once and there was just no time! I’ve had more reviews and guest posts, but not enough time to write my own content… 🙁

  2. This week I finally bit the bullet and took some pics for my site. I’m a terrible photographer so this was a pretty big deal for me but they actually turned out okay! So now I’m feeling pretty chuffed with myself and wondering what else I can take on that I have been doubting I could!

    • Yay! I’m glad they turned out so well! I’ll have to go over and check out the photos now, I’m sure they’re amazing! I can’t wait to see what else you take on too – you got this mumma! x

  3. You did have a productive week! I love baking, there are so many great recipes on Pinterest – no-bake recipes are good ones to start out with!

  4. Hey I’m excited for those eggless cookies! I am a vegan, so I am always seeking good vegan-friendly recipes, and even if other ingredients aren’t vegan, eggs are usually the most difficult to replace, so if you take care of those I will have no problem veganizing it! I definitely understand how hard it can be to keep up, so kudos for getting all this done!

    • Hahaha! Well when inspiration strikes… (or time permits, should I say!). Working is being productive, can’t ask for more than that!

  5. My motivation this week was taking care of my two sick kiddos. They are now starting to feel better. Hopefully we can all rest up this weekend and I can be more productive next week.

    • Oh dear that’s no good 🙁 I’m glad they’re feeling better though! I definitely hope you’re resting up this weekend and can get some things done next week!

  6. So glad I’m not the only one who has been struggling to get blog posts done. So bad of me! Hubby has taken Zoe out so I’m gonna write like there is no tomorrow (after I stop procrastinating reading your blog lol!) x

    • Aww I hope you can, it is the best support I’ve found! Have you got local playgroups? Fitness groups? Or try searching ‘Babes + Picnics’ in Facebook and see if you have a local group running?

  7. Wednesdays seem like a great day to re-energize! It can be easy to start slacking halfway through the week … but things still need to get done! Side note : I really want to try those cookies! 😀

    • Thank you, it was a bit up and down towards the end of the week but we got there! Thanks for linking up – can’t wait to see what recipe you share with us next week 🙂

  8. I feel ya girl on the productivity! I was getting so much blogging done at the beginning of the year, started a editorial calendar, but the last couple weeks ive hit a block! and my calendar still has 2 weeks ago on it.. 😅 blog life is hard! lol

    • It is so tough! I don’t think a lot of people understand how hard it can be! Good on you for getting an editorial calendar started! Hope you can get over the block and get back into it!

  9. I’m always thinking, why does it seem like I’m the only one who doesn’t have enough hours in the day. After reading your post, I know it happens to everyone. We are all very busy especially if we are mama’s too! Have a great day and enjoy those egg-less cookies. Personally, I would just eat the cookie dough since it will be egg-less! Haha.

    • I agree, sometimes it feels like we’re the only ones running around like mad, but it actually happens to a lot of mummas! I definitely enjoyed the cookies, I did think about just eating the dough, but I had a friend coming over so thought maybe I should make them into cookies… haha!

    • Couldn’t agree more Sara! I’m loving it more and more. I was a bit anxious early on because my son didn’t do well out and about, but now that he’s settled I love going out and catching up with other mums!

  10. Productivity is definitely NOT on point this week….this week everything feels like a struggle. I could very easily curl up in bed all day…for some reason my 7 month old doesn’t quite feel the same ;P I love the link up idea, I’ve never been apart of one before so it’s all very new to me…hope I’ve done it right 🙂

    • I know what you mean, this new week has been less than productive with my 6.5 month old teething and not getting much sleep! You’ve definitely done it right, so glad to have you on board! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow (it’s weekly from Wednesdays) – it’s a lot of fun and great engagement 🙂

  11. Being productive is so nice after realizing why it may have been hard to stay productive in the past! I’m glad you got some answers from your doctor 🙂

    • So true Brittany, it was a weight off my mind! A lot of uncertainty still with some health things, but at least some answers for the fatigue.
